 Kids Digital Cameras

The digital photographic revolution has brought about with it a rethinking of photography in our society.

Whereas in the past, photography was definitely reserved for adults only, this has now changed.

The older film type cameras had a large amount of precision and delicate mechanical components, making the handling thereof a tedious pastime. You needed to be careful not to bump the equipment, and if you dropped a camera, it was nearly always nonfunctional after the event.

Whilst today's higher quality Digital Cameras are also a little fragile, cameras made for children are very robust.

The digital technology being mostly handled by solid state components, there are very few delicate or moving parts in a basic camera. This lends itself to a robust construction, that can handle shock and abuse without much of a problem.

Manufacturers like Fisher Price and others recognized that it was now possibly to make photographic equipment, that could withstand the rigors of children's activities. Soon we had  Batman Digital cameras, Polaroid Pixie, Disney Digital cameras, Kidz Cam, Digital Concepts etc etc.

And so a totally new market was created, catering to the younger folk. Kid's digital cameras were released into the market and for a while at least dads expensive digital camera was safe.

Childrens Digital Cameras were also designed in cute pink and other colorful enclosures, so that they resembled childrens toys.

Amazingly, these toy like cameras, provide a better than toy like picture quality. They are not intended to replace  the higher quality adult cameras, but they are more than adequate for a child to explore some sort of photographic tendencies before money is invested in more costly equipment.

With a little parental guidance, children can be shown a bit of nature appreciation, capture their friends play activities, take pictures at their friends birthday part and many other things.  They are able to capture images, so that they can remember things they otherwise might have needed to relearn. They can appreciate that recording events and images, to keep for posterity, can be a valuable trait. They might even get their own pictures printed out like an art form to decorate their room, fill a scrapbook, or start a photo album.

So children's digital cameras can be used by children from a very young age, are not very expensive and can teach a child a valuable skill.

Digital Cameras Tip #1

Figure out what you need before you buy: There are so many different types of camera available, ranging from cheap point and click to very expensive professional units. Decide what you primarily would like to do with your camera, to drastically reduce your evaluation time.

Digital Cameras Tip #2

Don't only look at the price: Digital Cameras for the most part follow the same rules - you get what you pay for. Buying the cheapest digital camera may be expensive in the long run, when you need to buy another model to do something new.

Digital Cameras Tip #3

Make sure the camera feels good in your hands: This is so often overlooked in the search for more features. If you are not comfortable with how the camera operates, all those features won't matter, since you won't be using the camera as much as you should anyway.
