 Compact Digital Cameras

With digital photography having established itself firmly as the medium of choice for most photographers, the compact digital camera has really come to the forefront.

The advantages of digital over the older type of film camera, has been securely established in the last few years, for all but the die hard and specialist photographers.

As such, the digital cameras have started to appear in all sorts of forms and guises, with different models for all and any type of application. The digital cameras themselves have reached a level of sophistication and resulting quality, that new advances in technology are now focusing on other details apart from image quality.

Whilst the improvement in image quality with each new batch of cameras is definitely also progressing, there is more emphasis being placed on the actual functionality of the camera.

This has led to the development of what is known  as compact digital cameras.

Theses cameras, whilst offering all the quality and features needed for good results, are now becoming smaller and slimmer. All of this is to entice the user to carry the camera with him, for casual snapshots at will.

And this has now become a total reality for the consumer.

Starting with the easy to use point and click to the multi function adaptable digital camera, there is a model for every taste and budget.

There are virtually no more "unusable" cameras on the market, barring novelty items. Even the most budget cameras deliver acceptable results for the casual picture taker. As a matter of fact, many so called " compact digital cameras", are only compact in physical size. They boast quality and features surpassing professional equipment of only a few years ago.

So which compact digital camera you choose, really depends on what your specific needs are. They are all compact, they all take usable pictures. Do you want an especially slim digital camera, or would you settle for a slightly bulkier model with more features.Do you want an optical and digital viewfinder, and if so, what size and resolution do you want. etc etc.

The sky really has become the limit with the choice of compact digital cameras available nowadays.

Digital Cameras Tip #1

Figure out what you need before you buy: There are so many different types of camera available, ranging from cheap point and click to very expensive professional units. Decide what you primarily would like to do with your camera, to drastically reduce your evaluation time.

Digital Cameras Tip #2

Don't only look at the price: Digital Cameras for the most part follow the same rules - you get what you pay for. Buying the cheapest digital camera may be expensive in the long run, when you need to buy another model to do something new.

Digital Cameras Tip # 3

Make sure the camera feels good in your hands: This is so often overlooked in the search for more features. If you are not comfortable with how the camera operates, all those features won't matter, since you won't be using the camera as much as you should anyway.
